The universe of Project of Planets is a war torn world where humanity struggles against alien invaders amidst a nuclear wasteland. Taking place over two-hundred years in the future, humanity combats the ever present alien menace. In 2235 the Middle East was gradually running out of fossil fuels. This caused political turmoil as petro-chemical resources became scarce. Disputes between countries became rampant and nuclear warfare broke out between the world super powers. Fighting between nations was fierce, with most natural sources of energy destroyed by nuclear fallout; it was evident that new sources of energy would have to be sought. Nations invested in alternative energy sources such as nuclear fusion and other innovative energy infrastructures. The ongoing international conflicts facilitated military technology to develop even further, culminating in the development of the mech body. Unbeknownst to the world an alien invasion had also begun. These alien invaders first poisoned the atmosphere with a biological organism. The biological organism devoured and converted the atmosphere in order to make earth hospitable to the alien conquers. Once the atmosphere was converted, earth became inhospitable to humans. Due to the nuclear fall-out and biologically synthesized atmosphere, humanity retreated to a vast network of underground bases and shelters.
