Did you know that deleting a file or folder in your PC doesn’t actually erase your data? Files can be recovered from your PC after they have been deleted. Most programs litter your computer with temporary files that remain hidden from the user. These hidden temporary files can contain online banking information, credit card information, pieces of personal data, e-mail messages – basically any data entered on your computer. SecureClean is designed to provide every user with the highest level of personal privacy protection by finding and overwriting old data, making it impossible to recover. This is extremely important nowadays when it’s very common to shop online, and stay connected to the Internet almost all the time. You will find SecureClean very easy to use. Here is how to get SecureClean up and running. To access the main settings of SecureClean and other options the program offers three options: access from the system tray icon by clicking on it; access from Windows Explorer by right clicking a drive, file or folder; Select Start | Programs | SecureClean 4 | SecureClean from the Windows start button. By default, SecureClean is set to clean deleted email, temporary internet files, temporary Windows files, and drive free space. Additionally, SecureClean will search for temp files (.TMP) and display them for optional deletion. You can clean your drives using one of two methods: 1. Deep Clean – Use this option if you want to purge your system of previously deleted data. Purging your system will make previously deleted files unrecoverable. This is accomplished by overwriting the deleted data. This method does require much more time depending on the size of your drive. 2. Quick Clean – Use this method if you want to quickly free up disk space on your computer by securely erasing your browser temporary files, recycle bin, etc. This option is virtually identical to a Deep Clean, except that cleaning drive free space, file slack, and filenames is skipped. SecureClean can scan your computer for data that has not been cleaned from your computer. By using the SecureClean Scanner, you can quickly determine what private information is hidden on your drives and where it is located. This tool is particularly useful in making sure that specific items have been securely erased following a Clean or a Quick Clean. Besides cleaning a drive, you can also safely delete and destroy the contents of individual files or folders by zapping them. Remember, when Windows deletes a file or folder, the file’s contents are not overwritten and the file can be recovered. When SecureClean zaps a file, it overwrites the file’s contents so that it cannot be recovered.
