Scorched Earth is a dynamic multiplayer campaign system for running on-line wars using the IL-2 combat simulator. Scorched Earth is a free add-on for IL-2.

The SEDB31-series databases are available either in MySQL4/MySQL5 or MSAccess2003 flavours, and both flavours interoperate seamlessly with the other MP and DCS software components. 

The database now has something like 500,000 records in its full form, so the "Lite" databases are highly recommend for public server applications.

Both armies generate their flight orders and tactical and strategic plans using the on-line Mission Planner, a simple but comprehensive point-and-click browser tool which runs on a public web server.

The Mission Planner supports army-based commander authentication, which means that as long as army passwords are secret, opposing commanders cannot eavesdrop on each others flight plans. The Mission Planner also has a "host mode" which allows the campaign host to manage commander accounts/passwords, campaign objectives, reinforcements etc.
